Summer 2024 Devlog - 3 Seasons + 1 DLC

Hello from Vanade, Piper and Webmelon!

Before we knew it half the year had passed by in an instant, so I thought we might as well gather what progress we made and post it in a devlog here for those of you who don't follow us on tumblr or twitter or perhaps have newly discovered 3 Seasons and are looking to see where we're at with our plans.

To reiterate, we're working on a free update to 3 Seasons  that we call our 3 Seasons + 1 DLC. It's still just the 3 of us behind this game and indie studio (Hamilton Hour), and 2 of us are full-time students while I work a full-time job in an unrelated field. So naturally, we're eeking out progress when we're not burnt out.  If you've enjoyed 3 Seasons, it would mean the world to us if you could rate the game! It really helps our little game get seen.

Key Art Preview:

Currently Vanade is working on the new key art + thumbnail for the game, preview without the LIs and Ivy below!

And here's a preview of Briar's sketch for his section in the corner - we're really looking forward to finally having a key art with special art beyond just the sprites! And Mr. Spring himself finally gets to be in it. ❤️🌸

Valentines drabbles: How they hold your hand

A while back we posted some short written pieces about how each of the spirits (minus Briar) would feel about/go about holding your hand. You can find them all in this tumblr post!

Writing preview: Briar's route

We recently shared the following snippet out of Briar's route script (full text will be included at the bottom of this post for accessibility). As mentioned previously, Briar's route is almost fully outlined - it's just been a challenge to work on it consistently. His route plays out a bit differently than the other love interests; his story takes place after the main events of the game and assumes you didn't romance any of the other spirits. In addition, due to the storyline itself and its themes, Briar's route will be intrinsically romantic (vs the other LIs whom had platonic options). 

Our spring spirit may seem self-assured and cocky at first glance, but he has a problem he needs your help to figure out and he's a little stubborn about it.

“I’m fine, thanks to you. Are you a seasonal spirit or a guardian angel?”

“I’m more than willing to be your guardian angel if it keeps you from dying early. I happen to enjoy seeing your smile.”
Oh boy. The other seasons weren't kidding about him.

“So you're just following me around?”

He lets out a laugh at that, as if it's the most absurd thing he's ever heard. 

“I don't have that kind of time, sweetheart. I just happen to be a regular at your cafe.” He gestures down the street at the shop I just left.

I raise a quizzical eyebrow, taking in his striking green and pink hair.

“Huh. I've never seen you there. And I go there all the time.”

“I know. When you were job-hunting, you'd get lost in your own world staring at your little laptop in the corner. It makes sense that you didn't notice the breathtakingly handsome spirit a few tables over.”

He takes a step towards me, closing enough distance to force me to raise my gaze to meet his eyes. 

“But I noticed you.”

And that's about it for this devlog! We'll hopefully have another before the end of the year. Let us know what you want to see more of!
